The Purple Line is part of the mass transit system serving the Tel Aviv metropolitan area. In May 2022, Shapir signed a concession agreement to finance, design, build, and maintain the Purple Line, including the Tayasim Depot, an operations and maintenance center for the light rail system.
The Purple Line runs entirely above ground, passing through the cities of Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, Givatayim, Givat Shmuel, Kiryat Ono, Or Yehuda, and Yehud. The line spans approximately 28 kilometers and includes 43 stations, with an expected annual ridership of around 60 million passengers.
As part of the project, Shapir is also constructing Tayasim Depot, a 24,000-square-meter operations and maintenance center, which will serve the operation and maintenance of the light rail trains.
For the Purple Line project, Shapir employs some of the most advanced technologies currently available in the light rail and transportation sectors, drawing on the expertise of specialists from Israel and abroad. These efforts aim to ensure that the design meets all environmental requirements, including protection against vibrations, noise and radiation reduction, as well as the most stringent safety standards.
